Vashti K Author

Professional Bio

Vashti is an author, Functional Medicine Practitioner, certified Holistic Health Coach and has a background in healthcare and international development. She is a certified Holistic Health Coach through the Integrative Women’s Health Institute. Vashti has pursued further education in Hormone Health, Environmental Health, completed the Fix Your Period Apprenticeship, and is working towards her Functional Medicine Practitioner certification. Before becoming a Holistic Health Coach, she worked for the United States Agency for International Development, focusing on maternal/fetal health. She holds a BA and MSHS.

Her own journey with complex chronic illness, miscarriages, and feeling passed over by the medical system led Vashti to change careers and become a Holistic Health Coach. She believes that crap food, toxins, and stress are a big reason why we struggle and is on a mission to help as many people as possible get better and stay better.

Vashti works with clients with Complex Chronic Illnesses, including Mold Illness, Lyme Disease and it’s co-infections, and Autoimmune conditions. Vashti doesn’t subscribe to a one-and-done method, but rather that each individual that she works with is unique, and therefore, their coaching experience is based on their bio-individuality. She is constantly researching new methods to meet clients where they’re at to help them regain vitality. Vashti is passionate about bringing a blend of naturopathic and functional care to clients and believes the best outcomes come with the signature Doctor-Coach Model.

Vashti has been an expat for 12 years, and while it has its challenges, she can’t imagine living life any other way. She has lived in Baghdad, Beirut, Phnom Penh, Bangkok, Lagos, and Willemstad.

Outside the office, you can find Vashti on her mountain bike, hanging out with her family and friends, and exploring new places. Vashti currently lives in northern Virginia, with her husband, two daughters, and African village dog, Owen.

Live vicariously through the author's travels around the world

"From the first page of the book, you'll be taken on a ride, feeling like you are in the chopper with the author in Baghdad. Considering most of us will never visit such a variety of places around the world, much less live in them, it's exhilarating to experience these cities and countries through her words. But this book is much more than just a travel memoir - it's also a "passport" to taking control of our health when it goes off the rails. The power of community in our healing process also shines through in this book. Plus, it's a quick, engaging read that is perfect for a day on the beach, or sitting by a cozy fire in the winter. Highly recommend!"

An epic journey from the first page to the last!

"There are not many books I've read all in one sitting, but this book kept me turning pages until I got to the end. Vashti deftly packs more life into each paragraph than most books have in their entirety. Once you start, you won't be able to stop! This epic journey will keep you on the edge of your seat and holding your breath as you never know what's going to happen next. A true story of living, loving, daring, and healing. Beautiful!"

An Amazing Adventure!

"Thank you for sharing your amazing adventures and struggles with everyone. The details of every location, transported me as if I was traveling with you. This book is beautifully written."

Emotional, raw and beautifully written memoir

"This book enthralls you with places all over the world, well written tidbits of what life entails as an expat suffering with chronic disease. Vashti faces her challenges with determination, bravery and her storytelling will want you to continue turning the page. Looking forward to seeing where the next chapter takes this beautiful family."
